Check out Lucy concept art by Ben Mauro!

The film Lucy had a massive budget at an estimated 49 million euro (or $65,759,189). EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert told JeuxActu it has, "the highest budget in the history of EuropaCorp… Luc Besson has never put so many special effects in a movie." When you have that many special effects it takes a ton of concept art and one of the talented artists working on the film was Ben Mauro. He recently shared some concept art on his site.

Mauro is a professional concept artist who's worked on Hollywood films like Man of Steel (2014), Elysium (2013) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014).

 How Lucy sees the world

"Had the huge pleasure and honor to work with Luc Besson again on his recent film LUCY, helping him visualize a lot of the more cerebral portions of his script. Was fun to work with him early on to develop and visualize the future computers seen at the end and visualize some other really out there ideas. One of the first big projects to come out finally working as an independent directly with the client/director, was fun to go on set, see our names in the credits as ourselves and be able to post our work with no hassle...... amazing. Enjoy!

"Future computers, various explorations working with Luc to visualize what he wanted the future computers to look like, he had a pretty specific idea for what they should look like, the finals sort of ended up being a mix of both of these."

  1. Beautiful work, of course. I don't know if I'm likely to see Lucy. I have a Facebook friend who's condemned it as racist in its treatment of Asian characters. Any thoughts on that?
